Great Glen Way - The High Route
Slighe a’ Ghlinne Mhòir – An t-Slighe Àrd
Now open! The Great Glen as you have never seen it before with bigger views, less trees, sky views to take the breath away, open moorland and opportunities for unprecedented wild life spotting.
Work started in August 2013 to create this bespoke path for all users of the GGW, particularly when harvesting is taking place and the current route is impassable. This means that the likelihood of route closures will be significantly reduced for years to come. The High Route was opened to walkers in August 2014.
Current Great Glen Way
The Great Glen Way remains open with passage unrestricted.
We ask all visitors to the forest and those using the Great Glen Way, should apply common sense whilst on the national forest estate, particularly at this time. Please keep well away from plant and machinery, obey all signs placed there for your safety and follow any instructions given by staff on site.
Here are the status reports for The High Route.
